About Us

Founded in 1982, the Family Medicine Residency at Inspira Medical Center Woodbury is one of the oldest Family Medicine residencies in the Delaware Valley.  We are a 4-4-4 community-based program with academic affiliations with both the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. Inspira Woodbury is the sole residency program at our primary-care oriented community hospital, benefiting from the tremendous support of our hospital and community physicians.  Woodbury, NJ, with a population of just over 10,000, is located only 10 miles outside of Philadelphia, offering a small town environment with easy access to metropolitan resources and attractions.

Scholarly Activities
Our program is a member of the Family Physicians Inquiries Network (FPIN), a consortium of residencies and medical schools which promote evidence-based medicine and scholarly activity within Family Medicine departments.  Under the mentorship of our Local Editor, Dr. Glass, all residents author Help Desk Answers, which are published in the peer reviewed Journal of Family Practice, American Family Physician or Evidence-Based Practice journals.

In addition, our residents have presented at national and regional conferences.  Here are just a few examples of our graduates’ presentations from recent years:
  • Carrio K, Aggarwal A, McGroarty S.  A rare but life-threatening case of labile blood pressure in pregnancy.  NJAFP 2018 Scientific Assembly.  Awarded People’s Choice Award for Research Poster Presentation.
  • Patel M, Holmes N.  A common complication of quadriceps contusion with a rare presentation (or a rare presentation of myositis ossificans).  The American Medical Society for Sports Medicine 2017 Annual Meeting.  Poster presentation.
  • Bayerman B, Carrio K, Bichay Y, Vanderwerken S.  An observational study: Screening adult patients for smoking as a vital sign and subsequent smoking cessation counseling by primary care provider.  2017 Inspira Health Network Research Symposium.  Selected for Podium presentation.
  • Mulroy T, Holmes N, Frey S.  An unusual situation where stress radiographs are superior to MRI.  The American Medical Society for Sports Medicine 2015 Annual Meeting.  Poster presentation.
